Arequipa & Colca Canyon

after Nasca we took a night bus to buetifull city Arequipa , after a week in the desert of Trujillo Pisco and Nasca , it really looks buetifful. For the first time since we left we are in a real city with all the modern confort even supermaket (which is quit rare here), this is a very nice city and very clean all in colonial style (most of the monuments has been reconstructed last year after the earth quacke). Yesturday we had a half day rafting in the Rio Chili river and we have a lot of fun. we spend Yom Kipur in Arequipa and day after, we took an organized tour to Colca Canyon as we planed, and it was even better than we thought: we started with Aguada Blanca National Reserve, and we did saw a lot of wild animals, birds, flamingos, Vicunias (look like small Lama) , and also a strange animal that look like rabbits with long tail. After passing an Altitude of 4800m , (the highest place we have ever been in our life) we went down to "low level" of 3600m , were we spent the night at a small Indean vilage called Chivay. this Chivay was Freezing !! but there was an Hot water spring there, and after a hot bath and good food with live music, we went to sleep under 7 (!!) blankets. In Chivay we also saw many Lamas and Alpacas (very cute animal that look like small Lama), and we even eat an Alpaca steak !! next day we waked up at 5:30am, to go to the Colca Canyon . there is 2 exiting things about this Canyon, 1st is the Condors that use to fly over day early in the morning, and 2nd is that this Canyon is more than 3000m deep (!!), yes, it is almost the deepest Canyon in the world. and yes, we did saw a couple of Condors there ... after this very nice trip we went back to Arequipa, to catch our flight to Cusco . actually, Arequipa to Cusco is not so far by air (30 min), but by land it is 21 hours train ! so we took a flight ...
