Purely chance we met and a clever rouse began
with an underlying rumble and a giggle now and then
comfortable relationship, mixture humor, admiration
each in his own right, with lack of complication.
Over time it grew, to some extent, a test
looking to the morrow, identify the best
engaged in recreation, not looking for a champion
only challenge to the mind, only companion.
Ironically, as always, the gods do play their joke
when comfortable and happy, convenience they revoke
an assessment of alliance, yet another challenge faced
distance, time, fate; can this friendship be erased?
