Felix waved good-bye to the crew of the H.M.C.S. Victorious. All the while he was secretly wishing that Elbert was going back to Avonlea with him. Elbert having died a little more than a year earlier.
Suddenly, Felix felt a firm hand grasp his shoulder. He spun around.
"Gus!" He exclaimed in delight.
"Hi-ya, Faelix," he said in his strong Irish accent. "So you're the 'kid' who's coming with us."
"Yeah, I guess. Gus, do me a favor, don't tell anyone that I'm coming home. I'm going to visit Sara for a week, and then go back to Avonlea, maybe I'll bring her with me. But don't tell ANYONE no matter what. Just play along that I'm still at sea."
"Okay, I wont tell anybody even if they say you're dead."
"Thank you,"
"Now do you want a snack?"
"Ask a stupid questionof course!" Gus led him to the kitchens.

Izzy was walking along the beach with a bouquet of daisies in her hand. She started plucking out the petals and throwing them into the endless blue depths of the sea. She started mumbling,
"He loves me, he loves me not, he loves" Izzy sighed and looked up at the sun that was just beginning to set. Soon the sky was filled with crimsons and purples that reflected of the water.
"It's pretty, isn't it." Izzy nearly jumped out of her skin. She slowly turned to face the voice.
"Arthur!" Cried the astonished Izzy as she flung herself into his arms. "What are you doing here? Why aren't you in Charlottetown?"
"That's a nice welcome, Izzy. Isn't it all right to visit my favorite sister once in a while?'
"I'm you're only sister! Sorry Arthur, I just didn't know you were coming. Welcome home." She gave him a hug. "How did you know I was here?"
"Muriel said she guessed this is where you would be. She said you've been here a lot lately. So what's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong, Arthur. I'm just worried about Felix, that's all."
"Do you love him?" Arthur was genuinely curious.
"Of course, I do. I told him so too. I wrote it to him and told him to come home because I loved him."
"You know that means he'll come back, don't you?"
"Yes, and Cecily thinks so too."
"I wonder why he even went in the first place. I mean, think about it, Felix didn't want to fight he just wanted to see the world."
"Izzy, hello, he's Hetty King's nephew. She probably filled his head with stuff about 'doing his duty' and stuff like that." Izzy smiled. "Okay, Izzy let's go home."

"Bye, Gus, see you later, and remember what you promised me."
"Don't worry, I wont tell a soul." Felix hugged his brother in law, and Gus boarded the train.
Felix turned and walked down the unfamiliar streets of Halifax until he came to the one he was looking for.
"Here, it is," Felix said when he arrived at a beautiful stone house with an attractive front garden. The path to the door was lined with blood red roses and milky, lily's of the valley. Felix walked up and took the brass, lion-head knocker in his hand, and knocked.

Sara was reading "Les Misérables" when the knock came. Her heart leapt, suppose it was Booth! It had been four years since she last saw him, and they still wrote to one and other, but she always hoped he would come to visit, or stay. She stole a quick look at herself in the mirror. She, since she wasn't not expecting company, was wearing a simple light blue muslin dress that looked wonderful on her. She had her hair done up in a low knot at the back of her neck, as was the style that year. She decided she was satisfied with her appearance so she went to the door.
She was hoping for Booth and expecting it to be her Aunt Olivia, who was also living in Halifax because of the war. She did not expect to see what she saw. Sara opened the heavy wooden door to reveal...
"Felix what are you?"
"Hello Sara, I've resigned."
