Research Notes (Husband)

In 1935-1936, the parish priest Fr. McCarthy told Tomas McGrath's parents that his surname sounded too French. He switched the spelling from McGrath to McGraw, for the whole family.

Thomas was married yet and is son Bernard was living in Rolling Dam near StStephens Charlotte Co. in a lumber camp with his wife and new born son Bernard. Since news didn't travel fast then, they didn't know about the name change and his birth was registered in Pleasant Ridge Charlotte Co. under McGraw

Research Notes (Wife)

In 1936, Henriette Roach and her husband Thomas McGraw (McGrath) moved with their new born son from a lumber camp in Rolling Dam near St Stephens, Charlotte Co. to David Roach's farm in Acadieville because David was not well and wanted his youngest daughter to take care of him. In return, he gave her the farm.
