THE
PROBLEMS OF INDIAN EDUCATION
- Preface.
|
|
This
article is an excerpt from the book Future Government of
India. The Future Government of India is a MacMillan and
Co., Limited, London publication authored by K.Vyasa Rao,
B.A. This book was published from London in the year 1918.
Yes pretty old, yet very relevant so read on.
It
has a section dedicated to the problems of Indian Education.
This section clearly explains the problems and the causes
related to Indian Education. In spite of the fact that this
book is 83 years old one can find a lot of relevancy even
in the context of present day 'Advanced Education system'.
We know that the present system seems deficient. We are unable
to locate the problem and have no idea as to how this is affecting
the nation. This is the reason why I decided to present this
section. The entire text is presented as in the book and one
may notice that except to the references to British rule -
the other things seem relevant even today.

The main intention of presenting this excerpt is to convey
to the reader the basic goal of education. In all our efforts
to get 'educated' we are moving away from the very purpose
of education. Its too late for us to change the method of
learning to obtain what the author describes as the best method
for Indian conditions, but we can definitely make it a point
to understand fully the essence behind real 'education', and
hence start acquiring real education. After reading this one
can correct oneself, and when more and more people do it,
we can see a change in our country. This learning is not only
for students but also for teachers, for the Universities,
for each and every citizen of the country because only a truly
'educated' country can move towards achievement.
This work is dedicated to the author, K. Vyasa Rao,
who had a great vision to foresee things almost a century
ahead of him.
