The Shine formed in January 2004 with the goal of doing something different with rock n roll. Comprised of 2 members from Greenville and 2 members from Spartanburg, the band began writing original songs with a commercial appeal but also having a raw aggressive rock sound. The band has a reoccuring message of hope and optimism throughout their lyrics which comes from singer Steve Jackson's outlook on life and the future. "There are so many negative bands out today and that's just not who we are" said Jackson. "We want people to have fun and feel good when they listen to our music". The band is set to release their debut self titled album on their label Golden Gun Music in May 2006 and will be playing show throughout the southeast in support.
