Isaiah 29:13-14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
Alma 29:1 O that I were an angel, and could have the wish of mine heart, that I might go forth and speak with the trump of God, ...
Count Leo Tolstoi is quoted on page 436 of LeGrand Richards' book "A Marvelous Work And A Wonder" to have said to Dr Andrew D. White [former president of Cornell, and at the time, U.S. Ambassador to Germany - and not LDS]; "If Mormonism is able to endure, unmodified, until it reaches the third and fourth generations, it is destined to become the greatest power the world has ever known."
At the time, and unknown to Dr. Andrew D. White, his own relatives had been members of the Mormon Church since it's early beginnings. Here are the ones on my line related to Dr. White, and all members of the Mormon Church to date:
1- My grandchildren 2- My children 3- Me 4- My Mother 5- My Grandpa White 6- Great Grandpa Joseph White 7- Great Great Grandpa Joel White 8- Great Great Great Grandpa John White (Buried in Lehi Utah)
I think Count Leo Tolstoi is one of the "Wise Men" of his time.
Please note: I believe the LIGHT of truth is flowing from God and Christ to all the world. It is truly "A Marvelous Work and a Wonder". I encourage you to hear the message. In the early 1800's Joseph Smith said "I discovered a light appearing in my room, which continued to increase until the room was lighter than at noonday, when immediately a personage appeared at my bedside, ..." This quote was taken from Joseph Smith's account of the origin of "The Book of Mormon" a unique American scripture provided by God, and now published by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). I encourage you to read the Book of Mormon and test the promise God had Moroni included in it: Moroni 10:4 "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." |
