Areas of
East Delhi adjoining Gatum Buddha Nagar have the advantage of vicinity
of industrial areas of Gautam Buddha Nagar including Export Promotion
Zone. In this region there are large number of garment industries where
skilled and unskilled workers are in demand. The garment industries
off-load variety of job-works to ancillary units.
This creates job and self- employment opportunity. We were running a
Sewing center for the benefit of the women of Dallupura at Vasundhara
Enclave. However this could not be continued as the place given by the
Jont Forum of the area was required back by them. Our Centre,
therefore, felt that women of the areas where our education program is
going on should be offered a certificate course in Garment Manufacturing
and Design and should be encouraged to take up as this would make them
self-sufficient. The salient features of the program are given below:
Certificate Course:--->
Garment Manufacturing and Design
Duration of the course:---> Six Month
Source of Supply of Raw Material:---> Locally available
Batches: ---> The batches will be of 30 students.
This means 60 Students will be covered each year. However when once the
infrastructure is created beneficiary students could be increased to
120. Already a group of 20 women including our own school children have
already joined this program. The Centre for adult education program has
also enrolled these women.
