| MY HOST FAMILIES | ||||||
| Throughout the year, i stayed with four different families. Why? It's a really, really long story! You can read part of the reason in my journal. Anyway, i'll tell you about the two main families that i stayed with - my first and fourth host family. My first host family were the Motes, consisting of my host mum, Carol, her two younger daughter, Holly and Jenny(aged 11 and 5 at that time), and Dylan, the 10 year old daschund. I was quite happy because i felt that they were a nice family. Sometimes though, i felt like i didn't fit in at all and felt that i had to bear quite a lot of responsibilities. Their family life was very different from mine in Malaysia! It took a lot of my energy trying to fit in. I wasn't very good with young children either, so that didn't help one single bit. That wasn't the problem though.... The fourth family that i stayed were the Urens. Definately my favourite out of the four and the best, consisting of my host parents, Peter and Penny, their 2 sons, Andrew and Jowan(aged 13 and 10), Julie, 21 from France, Volkan, 17 from Germany, Lam, 19 from Hong Kong, and Ben, the 13 year old border collie. Of course, we had some students coming to stay occasionally from other countries, such as Spain, Austria, Germany, Hong Kong, The United States, Albania and loads more. So you can tell, it's quite a busy family! I really enjoyed meeting students from all over the world. Even though we have so many people staying in the house, i still had my own personal space, which was great! |
