DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MALAYSIA AND THE UNITED KINGDOM
1. As many of you know, the weather is a BIG thing for many people in the UK. I didn't really like it in the beginning because it kept raining all the time(!!), which felt really miserable. So, when the sun's out, be sure to make full use of it!

2. I found everything really, really expensive here! Food, hotel, you name it!

3. I also found some people really unfriendly. Most of the people in my college only stick to their own group. Sometimes, if i met some of my classmates in town or elsewhere, they "pretend" not to look or totally ignored me. Not a word of hi/hello. The older generation on the other hand were friendly and very helpful. I made more adult friends than those my age.

4. In the UK, people greet or say goodbye with a hug or kiss, whereas in Malaysia, the most we do is shake hands, or just say goodbye. Only sometimes the occasional hug from close friends.

5. I noticed that quite a lot of people thought that i couldn't speak a word of English. Well, let me tell you. Eventhough Malay is our official national language, English is very widely spoken in Malaysia and for me, English is my first language, at home, in school, everywhere!

6. Food. I also found that there aren't as many varieties of food in the UK. The national dish - fish and chips! In Malaysia, we are spoiled with so many choices.

7. It's quite easy to get around the UK, by train or by coach. Very convenient and most of the coach/train drivers are very, very helpful. This is sometimes not the case in Malaysia.

8. Public toilets in the UK are very, very clean compared to most in Malaysia! Probably one of the things i liked most about being there. Weird but true!

9. To me, college life was so, so much easier and relaxing compared to Malaysia. Lecturers are very flexible and don't burden you with a lot of work. Although, i don't understand why a lot of students in my college always complain of too much work and make up excuses not to do them! They haven't seen nothing yet...

These are just a few examples of the differences between the two countries. There are so much more differences and i'll try to put more in if i can think of any. Do not be offended, these are just my personal opinions......
