Elena, Cosmin and Florin September 2001

Our supporters will remember us finding these children living in terrible conditions. The disabled boys Cosmin 12 and Florin 9 where in cots suitable for babies and soaked in urine. This was not the fault of their mother Ileana, she kept the boys against all odds being extremely poor and receiving no help with them. They live in one room with their sister Elena.

On our last visit we where able to get them new beds, bedding, plastic sheets and washable nappies for the boys and also a washing machine. The difference this has made to their living conditions has to be seen to be believed. I was able to get a good price for a replacement bathroom and this should be completed by now. The plumber is a very kind Christian man and will replace everything. This is not an easy job as the work has to be carried out by hand as there is no plant hire available.

Elena is 11 years old and on our last visit we where able to take her shopping. It was the first time in her life she had got a new school bag and clothes. We also where able to get Elena school books and pens etc. Elena has not had much of a life as she helps her mother and grandmother to look after her brothers and does not have time to play with other children.
