| I am currently a graduate student at The Ohio State University studying Audiology and I will be graduating this August of 2004. An audiologist is a hearing healthcare professional that assesses and treats hearing and balance disorders in individuals from pediactric to geriatric. |

| Leadership Education Excellence in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities. LEND is funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau and is an Interdisciplinary Leadership Training Program, which is located in The Nisonger Center at The Ohio State University. LEND encompasses the following fields of study:- audiology, speech languauge pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, health policy, nursing, and social work. All of the LEND trainees worked as a team and were responsible for taking additional coursework, completing various projects, and participating in various specialty clinics. |

| 1.) For the purposes of our LEND training each trainee completed several projects/papers throughout the year to fullfill requirements in the different courses that we took. Such assignments included observing and thinking critically about ourselves (personally and professionally), our discipline, the function of an interdisciplinary team, a home/family that is raising a child with a disability and their strengths as a family, and finally health politics and policy in regards to disabilties. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 2.) Disabilities Module on Autism Spectrum Disorders The trainees were put into groups of three and worked together to create and informative module on one particular disability that could be used as a resource for future LEND trainees and eventually parents. The final project was created into a website (the link can be found below) which includes the following for each disability:- etiology, epidemiology, diagnostics, services, current research, educational needs, policy issues, and parent resources (websites, handouts and books). | 3.) Participation and Observation of Clinic Every Wednesday for Family Directed Clinic I participated as one of the team members of the interdisciplinary team by conducting audiological evaluations on all of the patients that were seen in the clinic. I also spent time observing Autism Clinc and Rural Clinic. |
