Banded Leaf Monkey

Banded Leaf Monkeys are a group of monkeys which once inhabited the region where the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and the Central Catchment Area now are.  However, these monkeys were separated from their families by the building of the Bukit Timah Expressway, which split the two aforesaid areas into half.  The exhibit in RMBR now was stuck on the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve side with some of her family.  They wanted to get over to the other side, but many died because of various reasons.  In the end, only she remained on Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.  One day, she came down from where she resided in the canopy, only to be mauled to death by wild dogs.  Why she came down from her perch is unknown, for the Banded Leaf Monkeys know where they should stay in the reserve and also know that inevitable death meets them if they come down for too long a time.  Perhaps she was committing an act of suicide, but we cannot be sure about it now.
