My Dollhouse
Have you ever come across something and knew you just had to have something like it? That's how I felt when I was at a huge indoor flea market and came across a dollhouse a man had built using his own plans. It had cute tiny lights in all the rooms, and the furniture was so realistic. I became instantly hooked on the idea.
I began searching the hobby stores. I saw a lot of dollhouses, but so many had small windows and deep rooms that seemed dark. Some were very expensive. One day I went into a store that had several of the Greenleaf Die-Cut dollhouses assembled and on display. I fell in love with the one above. It is called The Harrison. It had the large rooms and windows I wanted. I have always loved English Tudors. I didn't care for the downstairs floor plan, so with a little moving of walls I came up with what I wanted. I also bought the pieces for stair rails and bannisters to make my stairs look very real. I used wood glue on the seams. I have moved twice in the last twelve years and it is none the worse for wear. I put dollhouse stucco and stain on the outside of the house.
Of course you should landscape also. The trees for electric train setups are perfect. I used small silk flowers. There's a couple bird houses, a squirrel and bird feeder.
If you would like, I will take you on a tour of the dollhouse. Let's go.
