A number of factors led me to build this guitar. I had a shredder guitar, the Peavey Vandenberg Custom, and a classic rock guitar, the Washburn MG104. I needed to get a strat style guitar for single coil and neck position blues tones. I'd been looking into building a guitar, and with the large number of high quality parts offerings now available, I decided that my strat would be a homemade custom guitar. I had recently tried out the hollow Tom Anderson strats, and decided to give the chambered strat style body a try.

The chambered strat body came shaped and routed from Warmoth. I ordered the 5A Quilt maple upgrade, and the salesperson told me he'd pick out a piece that kicked ass. The top that I received was as good as the best tops I've seen on any factory instruments.

The pickguard was a custom order from Jeannie pickguards. The person I spoke with had a presliced piece of tiger maple on hand, and made a strat pickguard for me at a discounted price.

The Lindy Fralin pickups came from Torres Engineering in Redwood City, CA. In the chambered body, they pick up some interesting resonances and overtones which create an amazing clean tone. With a touch of power amp compression, the guitar tone takes on a rich overdriven quality, while staying sparkly clean.
