| Icemen go Cougar hunting and come back with Big Trophy | |||||||||||||||||||
| And down go the Cougars. The first game in the Saltcoats Minor Sports Rec hockey tournament was a lesson to the Bredenbury Cougar Senior hockey team as they where schooled 9-2 by the Icemen. It was a well balanced attack by the Icemen with several goal scorers. Two goal performance by Kevin Datema capped off the game. On a side note Chris "dooser" Evans scored on himself. Clumsy fool. Game two was the match of the Saltcoats Gang Green vs the RM213 Icemen. These two teams generally play each other a dozen times a year or more. Its a rivalry to say the very least. A traditional bout with the good guys coming out on top 12 -7 to earn a trip to the A final, again. The A side final was a battle of epic proportion. The Gang green made it in to the A final by vertue of the fact they run the tourney and faced off with a vastly improved line up from the round robin. Seems they got scared of loosing to the young guys and called in all the ex- juniors they could find. It was 'the fastest hockey game we've scene in along time', ' better hockey than we used to see from the senior team', where some of the quotes from a few of the many fans in attendance. The defensive zone play of the Icemen was a cut above what the Gang Green could handle. The RM 213 quick transition game was so untouchable it was almost condescending to the once patronizing, and haughty, now aged defense of the Gang Green. The final score ended up a 6-3 victory for the Icemen, and another A side Championship is in the books. Championship ring fittings are on Wednesday. |

| This past weekend the Icemen juggernaut entered the 2nd annual Yorkton Storm tournament. Game 1: A close affair as the most of the team had been out the night before either at house party in Yorkton or at the Mens Bonspiel Smoker in Saltcoats. The final score being 7-4 for Saltcoats. The game out come was never in doubt but nobody had the energy to bury the woeful Calder Blues. Game 2 : The Yorkton Storm came out with one quick goal then was quickly calmed to a gentle breeze after with a flurry of goals mainly coming from the NET line, Ryan Neal, Chad Elmy, and VaughanTorrie. Final score, 13-5. Off to the A final. Again. Game 3, A Final: The final proved to be the easiest game of the tourney for the Icemen as the stared down the Springside Warriors. Last years game was a fight filled affair with Springside taking some ugly lumps. Once again they got beat around. This time it was on the score board as the Icemen stomped Springside 12-1. The celebrations went long into the night as it was also three team members birthdays this weekend, Vaughan Torrie, Chris Evens, and Ben Hutchings all got older but no wiser. |

| Icemen go to 5-1! | |||||||||||||||||||
| Just after Christmas the Icemen traveled to Calder for a big game in the Quanset. There wasn't much to say about that game but everyone got a goal except Ryan Neal and the club footed Pamela Pachal. The final score was 18 to 6. After on devastaing loss at the hands of the Teacher in Theodore the Icemmen have since rebounded to pound them 8-4. It was a dominating show with the Icemen throwing 84 shots at the Teacher net and only having 10 shots sent back. To say the least thier goalie was on his game. The next contest featured the Icemens'sArch rivals the Blacksox. As much as they trash talk before games, for up to a week they really don't bring much too the rink. On a strong performance by former Saskatoon Blade, Chad Elmy, the Icemen dominated the 'Sox and scored their third consecutive win over them. Next game for the Icemen is at home against the Calder Blues. February 11th @ 8pm. Its free admission night at the game. We cann't justify charging for the whole seat when you will only use the edge! See you there. |

| Big Win to Start the Season! | |||||||||||||||||||
| Riding on the strong performances of Chris Evans, Kevin Smith, and goaltender Ben Hutchings the Icemen dominated the Yorkton Blacksox to win thier first game of the year, 11-7. While Kevin Datema and Ryan Torrie provided the bulk of the scoring. Next game is Wednesday night at 8:00pm as the Icemen host the Blacksox in thier home opener in Saltcoats. See you there. |
