It's Curtains for 'Darling' at Theater Group
LONDON (Reuters) - Political correctness has claimed a new victim as a leading British theater group brings down the curtain on the traditional thespian greeting "darling" because it could be deemed sexual harassment. The English National Opera said on Thursday new guidelines to staff on appropriate behavior pointed out that use of the term could, in certain circumstances, be offensive. "The wording of the document says the use of affectionate names such as 'darling' may also constitute sexual harassment," said a spokesman. "It's not that the word is banned. It's the context." High Doses of 'Older' Antidepressants Seen Risky
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - There appears to be an association between the risk of sudden cardiac death and use of relatively high doses of the tricyclic type of antidepressants (TCAs), investigators report. However, the risk is not increased with the newer type of antidepressants called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), or TCAs at doses less than 100 milligrams per day, according to results of a study published in the Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. TCAs include drugs such Etrafon and Sinequan, and numerous generic products. "TCAs, used frequently for the treatment of depression and several other indications, have cardiovascular effects that may increase the risk of sudden cardiac death," Dr. Wayne A.
