GREETINGS FELLOW TATE RESEARCHERS!
I have been the grateful beneficiary of some very helpful �cousins� over the years that have generously shared their patience, knowledge, data and kindness with me. My knowledge of the Tate family was very limited (one generation) until I started exploring my roots on the Internet. Then, VIOLA!
Today, I am able to trace ten generations on this particular TATE line. Since posting the data at this site, my files have grown and grown. Much of my progress in this endeavor is due to Jerry Tate. He introduced me to, and assisted me in securing a copy, of Tate Families of the Southern States, Volume II, by Laura Mentzel and Ethel Updike, 1984. I will be eternally grateful to these women for their extraordinary dedication and diligence in the pursuit of their mission.
Since the original posting of this information I have had the fortune of finding some new �cousins�. I have so enjoyed and am thankful for the collaboration offered by Carol Vaughan, Sandy Crook, Sonny Tate, Cindy King, Robert �Sassy� Tate, Shirley Knight, Vicky Drake, Billie Cook Bailey, Roland Tate, Linda Mangrum, Ron Jones, Sara Land, James Leroy Tate, Jr., Sam Waring, Allen Tate, Tyne Watson, and Blanche Tate. Their kind generosity has helped to expand my files to over 5600 individuals. If you, too, are a �cousin�, please email me and say hello.
This is not an index of the book, but a privatized and edited copy of the data I entered into my software files (Family Tree Maker 8.0). My interest in this family is not limited to names, dates and places. I have attempted to include any stories, written articles or references I found about these individuals. This, to me, brings some life to their names, dates and places and some insight into their histories.
