Comparing GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) and JPG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) Images.
GIF Images are capable of having a transparent background. The GIF file format has a color palette of only 256 colors and is well suited for images with few or large areas of flat color, such as logos and line art. Conversely, JPG images are ordinarily continuous tone images like photographs or images with gradients.
