Hey Everyone,

Welcome to the ONE Generation Website and blog. I am so glad you decided to check out this website and to leran and get involved with ONE. I just wanted to tell you a little bit about myself and why I decided to start this website. My name is Rachel. I recently graduated from a small all girls' school in New Orleans called Louise S. McGehee school. After this year I came to some new realizations. I wish that it hadn't of taken a hurricane to make me realize them but in a strange turn of events I'm glad they did. I came to realize several things. One, the education I recieved these past four years have has been invaluable and something I believe I took for granted. An education, especially for girls in some of the poorest countries, can be life saving. As well, it is a human right in accordance with the UN. ONE is out to provide education in poverty situations that is a critical tool in the fight against poverty and AIDS. And that I believe, we, as one can help make awareness about. Another realization that I came to this year, through exploring the ONE website and reading some of their blogs, is that everyone in America and internationally can help to end poverty and AIDS. But, it is our generation, as students, that will be the future America. And as the future we can, right now, play a critical role with the rest of America in this fight. A blog response to a sixteen year old advocating for ONE read as followed to our age group helping with ONE:

"I have great hope that the people in your age group have a much broader world view than generations before, and you're right as they enter the world and become voters and holders of public office the issues that matter most to their heart will drive their actions. "- Jennifer Brim

This quote really inspired me and I hope inspires you too! I too have faith in our generation to not only act in the future but to act NOW as well. So let's do it. Let's get organized. And let's all join ONE as a generation to fight against AIDS and poverty.

p.s. please feel free to contact me with any questions at rlom87@yahoo.com. I think if we start getting members on this website we can begin to organize some ONE rallies, other events, and really make this larger then ourselves. Thank you so much, blog, and have fun knowing that even just by expressing your ideas you are assisting others in need of help!

*ONE Generation will constantly be updated and change as new things are added so keep on a look out and comeback to visit! Thanks!
