MEADOWS, WILLIAM BUZZ -- Elkton - William Buzz Meadows, 67, of
Rt. 3, Elkton died of a heart attack at his home early Monday
morning. Mr. Meadows retired in August, 1964 from the American
Viscose Corp. at Front Royal, where he had worked 20
years. He was born in Page County Aug. 9, 1899 and was a son
of the late Hiriam F. and Margaret Hirt Meadows. Surviving
are his wife, Mrs. Reda Rinaca Meadows; three daughters, Mrs.
Raymond N. Rimel of Elkton, Mrs. M. Leroy Means of Harrisonburg
and Mrs. Ronald T. McCoy of Macon, GA.; two sons, Carroll J. and
Garland F. Meadows,both of Elkton; seven grandchildren; one
great-grand child; three brothers, Alfred, S.V. and D.V. Meadows,
all of Elkton, and a half-sister, Mrs. Virgie Jewell of
Luray. The funeral will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Wednesday
at Jolletts Methodist Church by the Rev. E.C.
Smith. Burial will be in Eastlawn
Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Howard, Phillip, and
Robert Meadows, Everette Smith, Russell Lam, and Elbert Stepp
Jr. Relatives will meet at the Meadows home 10:15 a.m.
Wednesday. The body is at the Brill Funeral Home in Elkton.

MELTON, EDWARD BLAIR DIES SUDDENLY
- PORT REPUBLIC, AUG. 10 -- E. B. (Buck)) Melton, 55, a resident
of Port Republic for 24 years died unexpectedly at his home at
7:30 Friday. Mr. Melton had been in failing health for a number
of years, but was able to carry on his usual activities. He was a
son of the late John Wesley and Helen Hiter of Elkton, and was
born May 24, 1901 in Greenville, where he spent the early part of
his life. Since 1931 he has made his home in Port Republic. For
35 years he was the mail clerk for the C & O Railway. He was
interested in the organizations for the betterment of mankind and
belonging to the railway YMCA and other various other railway
organizations. He was also a member of the Port Republic
Methodist Church. Mr. Melton had a great fondness for sports and
his favorite was baseball. He will long be remembered by other
enthusiasts in this respect. On April 25, 1931, he was united in
marriage to Pauline Alexander,
of Port Republic, who survives. He is
also survived by three children, Mrs. Carrell J. (Mary Lee)
Meadows, Port Republic; Eddie B. Melton, Jr. and James Allen
Melton, both at home. Also four brothers, J.W. (Jack) Melton,
formerly of Roanoke and now of Grottoes; R.Y. (Dick) Melton,
Rocky Mt.; H.P. Melton, Department of Justice in Washington,DC;
I.V. (Tuck) Melton of Shenandoah; three sisters, Mrs. S.M.
(Helen) Lane, of Boyce; Mrs. F. S. (Cora) Shultz, Greenville;
Mrs. J.C. (Mary Belle) Ruff, of Stanton. A number of nieces and
nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother,
Hiter Dawson Melton and one sister, Sara Daniel Vine. Funeral
services will be held Sunday at 2:30 from Port Republic Methodist
Church with the Rev. J.P. Campbell officiating. Burial will be in
the family lot in the Port Republic Cemetery. Pallbearers will
be: Harry Price Miller, Ernest Rodgers, Charles Hooke, Melvin
Bradburn, John F. Miller, Jr. and Robert Dinsmore. Honorary
Pallbearers will be C.A. Shade, John F. Miller, Sr., D.G. Tanner,
J.J. Nicholas, Dr. D.T. Goodin, W.E. Wilkerson, Tommy Evans,
Willie Dinsmore, William Hooke, Robert Meyerhoeffer, Robert
Downs, W.B. Meadows, Herman Scott, Arthur Scott, Luther Sipe,
Ervine S. Crawford, Burgess Chandler, and members of his crew and
the railway mail service. Relatives and friends will meet at the
Melton home Sunday afternoon, at 2:15 for a brief service prior
to leaving for the church. The body now rests at the W.H. Kyger
Funeral Home, where it will remain until it is taken to the
church at 1:30 Sunday afternoon. The casket will not be opened at
the church.

Rev. Alexander Dies At Home
Methodist Minister and Pioneer in Canning Industry
Port Republic, Aug. 2 -- The Rev. H.B. Alexander, 79, venerable
and beloved Methodist minister of this community, died at his
home here this afternoon at 5:00 o'clock following an extended
illness. Rev. Mr. Alexander had given a half a century of his
life to the spiritual advancement of this and other communities.
He served the neighboring counties of Page and Augusta from his
home here from the time of his ordination in 1914. In addition to
his work in the ministry, he was a pioneer in the commercial
cannery industry. His cannery, which was
established more than 40 years ago, was one of the first
to can corn successfully. In connection with the cannery, he
operated a truck farming business that produced many of the
vegetables that his cannery processed.
Native Of Augusta
Rev. Alexander was a son of the late Robert and Mary Jordan
Alexander and was born Aug. 11, 1877 near Seawright Springs. In
1923 he married Miss Minnie Bowman who survives.
From a previous marriage to Miss Mary Maupin he
is survived by two children, Mrs. E.B. Melton and Gordan W.
Alexander, both of Port Republic. From his latter marriage he is
survived by three sons and one daughter, H.B. Alexander, Jr., of
Winchester; Dr. Robert B. Alexander, and Joe Moore Alexander,
both at home, and Mrs. John L. Wood, of Salem, Va. He is also
survived by four grandchildren and one sister, Miss Cora
Alexander, of Harrisonburg.Funeral Sunday funeral services will
be conducted Sunday afternoon at three o'clock from the Port
Republic Methodist Church. The Rev. Gordan Krepps and the Rev.
L.D. Stables will be in charge of the services. Burial will be in
the Port Republic Cemetery (* transcriber's note : name of
cemetery is Port Republic Mutual Cemetery*) The body will remain
at the W.H. Kyger Funeral Home until Saturday evening at six
o'clock when it will be removed to his late home. it will be
placed in the church at two o'clock Sunday afternoon. A brief
service will be held at 2:40 Sunday afternoon at the Alexander
home. Active pallbearers will be: C.A. Shade, Richard Blackburn,
Thomas Woodson, Thomas Claig, Melvin Bradburn, Herman Scott,
David Wheelberger, Irvin Weinberg. Honorary pallbearers will be:

MEADOWS, VIOLA LAM 82, Elkton, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Dovel's Home for Adults in Elkton, where she had lived for the past three years. Mrs. Meadows was born May 5, 1918, in Page County, and was a daughter of the late Fred Lam and Polly Meadows Lam. She attended the Jollett Bible Mission and Bear Litha Baptist Church. On July 23, 1938, she married Bennie E. Meadows, who died June 5, 1992. Surviving are two sons, Sheldon B. Meadows, and Wilton Edward Meadows, both of Elkton; two daughters, Yvonne M. Strickler, and Maxine D. Dove, both of Elkton; four brothers, Albert Lam, Otis Lam, Leo Lam, all of Elkton, and Robert Lam, Waynesboro; four sisters, Marie Lawson, Sylvia Shifflett, Arvella Monger, and Shelva Campbell, all of Elkton; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The Rev. Alvin Dovel will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Kyger & Trobaugh Funeral Home in Elkton. Burial will follow at Jollett's Cemetery in Elkton.The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 this evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elkton Rescue Squad. P.O. MEADOWS, OLEN HIRAM, 77, of Elkton, died Sunday, Dec. 26,
1999, at Camelot Health & Rehabilitation Center in
Harrisonburg, where he had been a patient. He had been ill for
nine years. Mr. Meadows was born Nov. 11, 1922, in Page County,
and was a son of the late Hiram M. and Virgie C. Meadows Meadows.
He was educated in Page County schools and was a farmer. He was a
member of Jollett United Methodist Church. Survivors include a
sister, Helen M. Lam of Elkton. The funeral was conducted
Wednesday, Dec. 29, by the Rev. Mike Plasters at Jollett United
Methodist Church in Elkton. Burial was in the Jollett Cemetery.

Church, P.O. Box 34, Elkton, 22827. Kyger Funeral Home in
Shenandoah was in charge of services.
