Our Recent Pictures
These pics come from several recent occasions we've had out here since the advent of the digital camera. We start with the combined Cake and Ice Cream day for Patrick and Margaret. Since their birthday's both occured in Lent (March 25th for Margaret, and March 28th for Patrick) we decided to do both of a Sunday (Patrick's actual birthday). Kate was here, too, and enjoyed herself mightily. Made her appreciate a family that lives 3,000 miles away.
Then there's one or two miscellaneous shots of various non-events. Nothing special, except for Stephen's Confirmation Day. We've got many "chemical" pictures, but only a few digital ones.
Finally, a few pics from Sarah's 21st birthday. Another one hits the big two-one! Each one makes me feel so much older.
More pictures shortly from Bridget's First Communion. The last of the kids to pass this milestone. I used to convince myself that I was still young if I had little kids around the house. That is becoming less and less true with each passing day.

The first picture I took with the new camera. I had to sneak up on her to do it - she hates it when I take her picture.
Patrick acting just like a guy when confronted with a golden opportunity - Take My Picture Going For A Gold One!
Sometimes she breaks out in a wide grin. Its scary when you don't know why.
Everything is LORD OF THE RINGS! Even birthday cakes, plates and napkins, T-shirts, hats, even underpants. I'm waiting for the LOTR toilet paper.
Tension! Tension! I hope they're thinking happy thoughts.
Lighting candles takes longer each year. (I suppose that's the way it should be.)
With a blaze like this the Ice Cream Cake is goung to go from the "Shire" to the "Dead Marshes".
I prefer pop that comes in a green bottle. How about you?
I think Kate took her drink from the brown bottle(s).
I don't know what it is. It smells like its been dead a while - someplace where the air couldn't get to it.
I'm going to trade this for some WNBA Player Cards. Hope I get a white one.
Who says you can't get the height of fashion at Wal Mart? Gert the Greeter showed me right where this was.
No noise! No Music! No dancers jumping out of cakes! We take our partying seriously - no unnecessary effort is wasted.
So the drunk says "Hey Lady - yer sign fell down!"
Ya gotta make the impression, and then ya gotta maintain it. It ain't easy, ya know!
This is Theresa. What a lovely child. So shy! So retiring!
Kate needed help with her homework. Bridget tried, but couldn't get through the thick fog, so she moved along to other things.
Let not Patrick's shining visage and the sparkling eyes affect your level of caution. When he looks like this its like Nitro Glycerin waiting to blow!
Jes' chatting. With other sisters it might be about such things as "men and babies" - but these are Murphys, so its gotta be about something else.
When you wear this hat in Oregon you have to read up on the Yankees. Many people here don't like the Yankees, its true, but there are so many more who have never heard of them.
Just how much "Adorable!" can you take in one day?
When we get together we gather in one room and simply trash it.
Its harder to smile after a while. Gaity becomes more and more elusive. When you eat too much you sometimes get all bound up - big time!
Dad used to have his office in the front room. Now its Sarah's room, so dad has to work in the living room. This shot is of one of those rare occasions when it was CLEAN.
The weekend before Easter was so warm and bright that we did our egg dyeing on the porch. Nothing funny to say about it. Its just what we did.
Margaret ready for her trip to Rome. The High-School girls at St. Thomas Becket (with the assistance of a benefactor) took a pilgrimage to Rome and saw all the Basilicas. (She also learned that if some hot looking guy in Rome says "Hello" a girl should avoid saying hello back.)
She's either trying to hide or she's showing off her manicure. The smart money says "hide".
Theresa was so daunted by the messy house that she lay down and became a Prisoner of War.
Stephen on his Confirmation Day. I think we have him smiling on the "chemical" pictures.
The cake that is destined to produce even more of Stephen.
So why do they always take a picture of the cake? Nobody ever takes a picture of the Eggplant Parmesan! Nobody takes pictures of the Fettucine Alfredo! Or the Mashed Potatoes. Why the cake?
You can tell that Stephen took this picture of himself. Its about as good a self portrait as you would expect from a digital camera at arm's length.
Sarah on her 21st Birthday (May 5, 2004).
Another view of Sarah celebrating her majority. I'm gonna raise her rent.
When there's nothing special happening, most of the Murphy kids just stand around waiting for something interesting to happen.
Bridget picks a bouquet of local blossoms for Sarah and gets a kiss for it. I think she really wanted money, but it didn't work out.
There's only one piece left, Mom. Can I have it?
