![]() This is Leo the Leopard Gecko (can't climb walls). ~ He's a 9yo male; captive bred, born and raised by me. ~ Their life expectancy is 20+/- years. ~ His diet is; crickets, mealworms, waxworms and pinky mice (newborn mice). ~ He's kept at 85+ degrees and hibernates in the winter. Unfortanately, Leo died the spring of 2001. I will miss him.
Summer ~ 2000
Jag after a short, but successful, hunt one morning. ~ Didn't realize his tail was under him until afterwards. Oh well, he's still handsome :-). |
SqueakerHe and his nest had fallen out of a tree during a storm the end of July of 1997 (Sasha found it for me). ~ He was about 1-2 months old (fit in the palm of my hand). ~ I left him out there for a day or so, hoping his mother would take him back, but No. So he was mine to raise until he was old enough to return outside. ~ He was great in the house, didn't destroy anything, potty trained himself, told me he was hungry, knew his boundaries (kitchen and dining room only) and went to bed (behind him in the pic - bottom shelf) at the same time every night and wouldn't come out until we got up. ~ And he never once tried to bite. ~ He was doing great, but in December he started having seizures, so off to the Vet we went. ~ Because he was so young when I found him, he had a severe vitamin deficiency problem. ~ He wouldn't take anything orally for it and had to have injections. ~ Within minutes of the injections, he would be fine, but they only lasted a few days. ~ There was no way he would make in the wild w/ this problem, so he lived with us until he died on Valentine's Day - 1998. ~ He had a short life, but more of one if I had left him outside that day in July. ~ I don't recommend keeping a squirrel as a pet, but he was the best "pet" I've ever had and I miss having him around. |
