PHILIPPINE FIESTA
ATI-ATIHAN Kalibo, Aklan - held every 3rd sunday of January, it is considered the Philippine Mardi Gras. Ati-atihan celebrates the pact made by the ati (the first inhabitants of the island) and the Malays in the 13th century. The feast also honors the Sto. Nino, the Child Jesus.
DINAGYANG FESTIVAL IloIlo City - celebrates the Christianization of the natives, this even is also held on the 3rd week of January and also honors the Child Jesus. Parades are accompanied by loud beating of the drums and the people shouting "Viva Sto.Nino!"
SINULOG FESTIVAL Cebu - this event coincides with the feast day of the Child Jesus. It celebrates the conversion of the province's chieftain, along with his queen and all his subjects in 1521.
FLORES DE MAYO - the flowers of May. Celebrated throughout the country, this feast is celebrated in honor of the Blessed Mary. Also, it also commemorates the day when Empress Elena, Mother of Emperor Constantine, was said to have found the cross of the Lord in 325 A.D.
