November 13, 1922 - May 30, 1995

My father was raised in Mississippi. He joined the Marines in 1940
and became part of the 2nd Marine Division. He was moved up to
Sargeant status and was a great leader to his men.
I read an article where one of his men spoke
of my father and it made me very proud.  They fought in Japan.
He moved to Illinois in 1945 for a job with Burlington Northern Railroad
in Aurora, IL.  He married my mother in December 1968 and we lived in Illinois
untilthe summer of 1986.

What kind of man was my father?  He was very strong and honest.
He was hardworking and had a great laugh. He would whistle and hum
all of the time. He wasn't perfect, but who is?  At times his temper would get
the best of him,but it cooled with age.
My father died at the age of 73 in his home from a heart attack.
I miss my Dad very much. Sometimes it's more than others.
My birthday is always very difficult.  He used to call and say,
"Happy Birthday honey".
I miss that phone call so much. Sometimes when I go to my Mom's
I still expect him to walk through the house tapping the walls.
I find myself doing that very thing.
I miss you Dad.

This is my father and I on my wedding day. March 27, 1992
