The D & R Railroad is a Garden Railway, located on Short Branch Road, in Greenup County, Kentucky. The layout is about 125 feet long by about 60 feet wide. We currently have four loops; an inner loop which is about 125 feet in length, and two outer loops which are about 350 feet each. We have just completed construction of a fourth loop which lies at a lower elevation than the other three. The new loop is about 175 feet in length. The curves are all 20' diameter on the three original loops and 12.5' on the new loop. All track is Aristocraft Brass. We have attempted to use Split-Jaw clamps as much as possible since the Arito connectors fail rather quickly when used on the ground.
The buildings and art work were done by Chief Artworks Consultants Connie Dickison and Georgina Chinn. The layout decoration and landscaping is coordinated by Connie Dickison. The layout design and track construction are by Chief Engineers Daniel Chinn and Richard Dickison. Further construction consultation provided by Assistant Engineers Tom Nibert, Britt Reed, Larry Jancsek, Steven Murray, Steve Duncan, Don Maxwell, Chris Lockwood, Charlie Sherer, and Dale Pratt.
