After making a mess of ruling England and spending lavish amount of royal money on extravagant things, the noblety stripped the crown from Edward the II and bestowed it upon his son, Edward III. Edward the III was still a boy. Edward the II was brutally murdered while being held prisoner. The responsible parties are believed to be the Queen Isabella and her lover Roger Mortimor. But one must remember Edward humiliated his wife by giving her dowry to his male companion. Many believe Edward II was homosexual, and that was not tolerated in those times. Edward II ignored Isabelle. He gave titles to his male companion and the nobility murdered Edward II's companion. Although her complaint was valid against Edward II, The noblety did not like Isabella because she was French. Isabelle ruled as regent for Edward III, but eventually the young Edward III took contrl of the throne and had Roger Moritmer executed and banished his mother for the rest of her days.

King Edward I is responsible for the execution of William Wallace; however, one must read the entire historical account. William Wallace, a lover of freedom, was not completely innocent of unprovoked brutality. Both men lived in a time of instability in Scotland. Edward I invaded Scotland and used many as pawns for political gain. Wallace was defending his homeland against invaders. Also, it must be made clear that the love interest that is betrayed between Isabella and William Wallace in the movie 'Braveheart' is purely fiction. The movie also hints at Isabella giving birth to Wallace's child. Isabella was only about 10 years old and still living in France. Also King Edward III was born in 1312, seven years after Wallace's execution.
