1.     Read the background material provided to you in the packet titled “Classification and Evolution” by Robert P. Gendron. 

2.     Complete Exercises 1-3 (75% of overall score).  You may do the work by hand or utilize a computer program of your choice to generate the appropriate output. Neatness and creativity are highly encouraged.  You may utilize any size of paper you deem appropriate, from notebook to poster size.  All exercises should be labeled clearly with your full name.    

3.     Answer Problems 1-5 in your own words (25% of overall score), remembering to properly cite references if you consult alternate sources.  It is preferred that you use a word processor for this portion, unless your handwriting is exceptionally neat! 

Remember:  All work should be done independently by each student, and cheating of any kind will be heavily penalized and/or grounds for expulsion from the class.  2 points per class day will be deducted from late work.
