The Life and Times of the Short's

Here we are in our first family portrait early in 1996. Alex is about 5 months old. Check us out now.

Well, as some of you know, we are living in Lexington, South Carolina which is a town just outside of Columbia. How did we get here from Florida? Well, in 1997, Rob decided to go back to school and get his Masters in German. So off we went and moved to Columbia, SC. Rob has completed all the requirements needed and has finally earned his masters degree in German. I am currently working in Online Banking Support for Wachovia Bank. I have been employed there since January 1998 when we moved to Columbia. When I was in high school in Ocala, Florida, I started working in a bank. (afterall, money is such a wonderful thing!!!) It is hard to believe that it was well over 18 years ago. I guess it is hard to break out of a field that you have been in for such a long time. In October 1999, we got a dog for Alex. Rusty is beautiful mixed breed.

In July 2000, we purchased our first home in Irmo. Shortly after closing on the house, we discovered we were expecting our second child due in April 2001.

In July 2000, we were faced with the difficult decision of putting CJ, our loving and devoted cat to sleep.  She will always be in our hearts.  Since we have so much love to share, we have since adopted two new cats, Whiskers and Rocky.

In May of 2006, we sold our first home and moved to Lexington, SC. We now have a larger 2435 sq ft home in a great community and school district. Oh and we adopted Robin, a shepard collie mix and another calico cat, Kallie. Some may say that we now live in a zoo... LOL...

I have several projects that I am currently working on that keep me very busy: including the long needed and awaited updating of this website.  Also on the list ofgrowing projects is, with the help of my brother, researching ourfamily history (this has been kinda on the back burner though).  One of these days, I will also manage to cross-stitch a Gator picture for us like the one I made for my brother. (Steve, I thought you might enjoy that one. Love you....hahahahaha)

Another task that I have started, back in 2005, is finishing my Bachelors degree on a part-time basis while working full-time and raising two wonderful kids. I plan on completing my degree in April 2008. It is never too late!!!!

As you probably guessed, we are still true Gator-blue gator fans. It is just getting a wee bit more difficult to find the Gator Garb up here in Gamecock Country.

Travelling will always be on the list of things we want to do. In fact, most recently. we went on vacation to the mountains of North Carolina and hope to incorporate trips to Disney, Germany, and Norwaywhich is the birthplace of my Grandfather.  Haley and Alex enjoyed our recent camping trip in the mountains.  Fun was abundant as was the rain and damp, humid and bug filled environment!  Along for the ride was good friend and Godmother to Haley, Samara Mendel.

We will naturally keep our site updated with new info as things change.

Grace and Peace
