On One Foot: A "Middle East Guide for the Perplexed"
While I do not advocate the fully pro-Israeli position put forward in this book, I think it can be a useful tool in two areas. First, in order to understand why one does or doesn't support a position, one must first understand the position. This book does a pretty good job of that. Second, it is important to realize that there are needs on the Jewish Israeli side too. The state was founded after the Holocaust which, though it cannot excuse modern injustices, explains the rationale and need felt for a state.

The book, however, must be taken with a grain of salt. For instance, it puts forward the view that Zionism is an integral part of Judiasm, that any criticism of it is anti-Judiasm and thus anti-Semitism. Some Jews I've met (those with whom I've discussed this, at least) are anti-Zionists without seeing themselves as hating their own people. Instead, they feel this accusation of racism is just a cover for injustice.
