| (Lt) Map of earthquake epicenter was close to Kosova so we drove down to help rebuild. (Rt) Rich and Vicki in Istanbul shop on the way. These are pictures of the terrible effect of a 7.5 strength quake that lasted 45 seconds We actually experienced two more quakes once in Ismit and saw buildings collapse. More lives were lost in this quake than in the Balkan wars, I think. We felt a peace about being here and helping dig out. Many of the government workers were lost so the area was under military rule. |
