| What does Father Chaos mean? I'm sure people from www.mtgnews.com and Counterstrike have been wondering; what's up with Father Chaos? This should give you the explanation you seek: I created an RPG system called "Thunder," which had a futuristic setting involving many different aspects of other RPG's I've seen. I borrowed a little bit from Shadowrun, from D&D, from White Wolf games, and Warhammer. After it was completed, I threw together a storyline to go along with it to give the players a little bit of a background on what to expect, and how they can blend into the new society of the future. Along with the background, I made a storyline about several cults and organizations that began to spring up over time. You see, there was a meltdown at a nuclear reactor in South America that sent radioactive particles everywhere, mutanting life on every inch of the planet. The mutations spawned different races of people, like elves and dwarves (though they aren't called that). Because of the need for identity, many groups of these individuals decided to form their own underground societies to make themselves better known and understood. But thanks to the efforts of powerful mutants joining the police forces, most of these terror groups were erraticated before they could get off the ground. However, one such society withstood the impact of heavy law enforcement. It is called the "Brotherhood of Chaos." Members of this cult wear red robes, and bear a symbol of chaos about their necks. The society has been around for some fifty or sixty years (records aren't too precise about the founding), and it is one of the only cults that has amnesty from governmental influence, due to the fact they have submitted a request to be recognized as an official religious group. The request was granted by the President of the United Nations. The Brotherhood has sects all over the world. Most of their operations are confined only to the Chicago area, and other areas of Illinois, but they still have operatives in major areas of the planet, such as London, Moscow, Syndey, Tokyo, and Brazil. The brotherhood is a religion, but underneath the guise of its friendly visage for a better understanding of the universe is a deeper, more malicious form that only exists in quiet whispers. The cult uses its manpower and funds to create havok and disorder wherever the members go. Many of the Brothers and Sisters of Chaos have been arrested, and even executed for their activtities. However, the leader of the group has never been held responsible for the behavior of the lesser members. The leader is known as Father Chaos, as he is the Father of the "Brotherhood of Chaos." There is no Mother Chaos, since Father has never taken a bride. The Hierarchy goes down the line from Cardinal to Initiate, with all points inbetween. The government of the U.S. secretly supports the Brotherhood to wreak its mayhem about the world, as they found out their influence is a good way to gain bargaining power over other nations. Many groups inside the U.S. are aware of the support the Brotherhood is receiving from the Federal government, and are looking into ways to put it to a stop. So there you have it! Father Chaos = Leader of a cult of Chaos. |
