The 1980's-The Glory Years.

I first got into Rock music at the tail end of the Seventies and I couldn't have timed it better, the following year the Rock scene, especially in the UK exploded. Motorhead, Iron Maiden ,Black Sabbath and Ozzy released classic albums, the New wave of British Heavy Metal was kicking into action and the future was rosy.That same year was the debut of the castle Donington rock festival which would take place just about every year throughout the decade. As we reached '84 a US invasion took place, Bon Jovi, Ratt and Motley Crue were getting the press, the scene especially in Los Angeles was huge. Throughout the decade the Metal scene was like a juggernaut, but as the decade ended the wheels were starting to come off, nirvana and the grunge scene was popular, make-up and big hair was out. This then is a tribute to the decade of bad taste and GREAT rock music, the 1980's, I salute you.

The band that, by the end of the decade had risen to be one of the biggest and most dangerous bands on the planet.It was a slow start though, an e.p featuring some covers was their first release, this was followed by Appetite For Distruction, those who heard it new this was something very special, they toured to small venues and it wasn't until the mega hits of "Paradise City" and "Sweet Child O'Mine" that they hit superstardom....the planet was theirs for the taking.
Only they could blow it......

Def Leppard
One of the greatest band's of the 1980's, Def Leppard were brought to my attention, as most of the rock world was, by the release of the ground breaking 'Pyromania'.This was followed up in 1987 by the phenonamal 'Hysteria'.In 1986 they put on one of the best performance's ever at Castle Donington, a show I'm sure will live with drummer Rick Allen for the rest of his life.
