You might be surprised by the amount of "junk" that can be left behind when you have surfed the net or updated the software on your computer. Even when you go through the officially sanctioned methods of cleaning up your disk space, files can still be left behind that are safe to delete. SIMPLE SYSTEM CLEANER is a utility that cleans out selected folders on the current disk drive (usually C:), with a view to removing clutter e.g. Temporary Internet files. It will log what it has done to a file "SYSCLEAN.LOG" in the root directory of the current drive.

You should be receiving soon an email with a program that will install SIMPLE SYSTEM CLEANER on your computer. To use it, you will need to be using a suitable version of Windows. It has been tested with Windows 98SE, and should work with newer versions. Follow theses steps to get it up and running. Note: you will need software such as "WINZIP" from http://winzip.com or "PKUNZIP" (part of the "PKZIP" package) from http://pkware.com to access this file.

1. Scan the file for viruses, trojans, worms, and other "features" that can cause you heartache. If you are using software such as AVG from GRISOFT this can be done automatically for you. If you suspect that the email has been contaminated in any way, STOP IMMEDIATELY AND CONTACT THE SENDER OF THE EMAIL.

2. Open the attachment and follow the instructions.

3. Read the enclosed "ReadMe.TXT" file. The installation procedure will allow you to do this. 

4. Use and enjoy.

WARNING: This software deletes files from your computer in a way that the files cannot be recovered by use of the "Recycle Bin" facilities offered by many versions of Windows. Be sure to save your work and allow printing to finish before using this software, as revoery of files accidentally deleted by this software will require specialised "undelete" software.
