Physical devices  in medicine (1995) - Mr. H. Devaraj, SXC, Palayamkottai (B.Sc Project)
Synthesis of metals and alloys by polyol process (Since 2005)
The synthesis of Fe and the reaction mechanism in polyols has been evaluated. Also low temperature synthesis of alloys such as FePt is undertaken.
Nanocrystalline magnetic materials (1999-2005)
The synthesis and characterisation of magnetic materials such as ferrites, garnets and permanent magnetic materials were undertaken under this study. The synthesis methods employed were mechanical milling, chemical synthesis and melt spinning techniques. The study has been undertaken by funding from UGC major project and CSIR-SRF. A high energy ball milling has been procured under the UGC project.
Low power laser biostimulation (1998)
The feasibility of using low power He-Ne laser in wound healing was evaluated. The studies
were conducted in chronic leg ulcers. Almost 95 % success rates were recorded using He-Ne lasers. Invitro training was undertaken for the study. Meanwhile gaveup the project. A pilot study on the low power biostimulation has been published (
NDT for flaw detection (1997)
The use of various standards for flaw detection in welding joints by x-ray radiography were tested to obtain maximum sensitivity of flaw detection.
Physical devices in medicine (1995)
The physical principle and application of some of the devices used in hospitals were evaluated. The devices examined were CT scan, ultrasonic, ECG & EEG, Tread mill, etc.
