Yesterday was a day of triumph. A day that will be listed somewhere in the list of firsts that are entirely mine. Yesterday, June 1st, 2002 AD, was the day of my first omelette. I have completed a study of omelettes dating back six years, almost exactly. I can tell you, for example, that the word "omelette" comes from the French word for the kind of plate on which an omelette would be served. But that was all theory. Yesterday, I, Rick Shanley making full use of a knife, a fork, a bowl, a spatula, a frying pan, and, of course, a stove, flawlessly and succesfully, completed the culinary task of cooking an omelette.
