A collection of links to web pages I have found useful for learning various things related to Macintosh program development. Topics include Objective-C, Cocoa, REALBasic, Java, UNIX, and others.
UNIX, X Windows (Mac OS X - Darwin)
- The following organizations have joined forces to port linux/unix software to Mac OS X

- Fink - FINK is an effort to port UNIX software to MacOS X. Install Fink, then it will do all the dirty work compiling other UNIX programs for you.

- Gotchas when porting UNIX software to Mac OS X - an article with some good tips
- XFree86 - run X Windows on your Mac. Opens up a multitude of free UNIX programs for use.
- XDarwin - install along with XFree86.
- Apple's new X11 - you can use this instead of XFree86/XDarwin - it's much easier to install, and optimized for the Mac OS.
- OroborOSX - a nifty window manager which sports the Aqua look and feel.
- Using FLTK, XFree86, and OpenGL under MacOS X
- OSX GNU - get GNU software which has been modified slightly to make it easier to install on OS X.
- GNUstep - Derived from NeXTstep, a way to benefit from "Cocoa" when you can't use a mac.
