�Florante at Laura� is a master piece made by a prominent Filipino poet, Francisco Balagtas also known as Francisco Baltazar. He wrote this when he was brought into jail because of his rival to the heart of Maria Asuncion Rivera (M.A.R.), �Selya/Celia� in the novel, Mariano Capule. He dedicated the first chapter of Florante and Laura to M.A.R., entitled �Kay Selya� (For Celia).
