William Tompkins was born Jan. 19, 1862 in KY. A brother, James H., was born Oct. 8, 1864. William married Mary REED, daughter of Joseph and Sarah ESTES Reed, in 1887, AR. William's family resided in Clay Co., AR, 1900 and migrated to Pope Co., AR by 1905 William died in a tornado which hit Buck Mt. just outside Russelville, May2, 1908 He is buried, with a daughter, in Phoenix Cemetery, Pope Co., AR. Joseph and Sarah ESTES Reed had 10 children, but by 1900, only 4 were living. Mary and brothers Jodi, William and John, who is living in a home for the blind in 1910. Mary's parents resided with her after her husband, William's death. |
James H. TOMPKINS married Victoria CRUMBin 1891, AR He kept his place of residence
in Clay Co., AR.. 11 children were born to them,
Ida Mae, Emery L., Mary Alpha, Ethel S.,
Lora A., John H., Frank, Ruth Etta, Kate Hazel,
William Ernest, and an infant. James contracted
tuberculosis and in turn gave it to his family.
Most of his children died in thier 20's or early
30's. James died April 4, 1923, in Clay Co., AR.

Charles B. was born Feb., 1889 in AR. He married Letha S. BURTON 1909, AR. His son, Charley C., was born Dec.,1909. Charles and family were residing with Letha's family in 1910 which was Pope Co., AR, Center Township, Buck Mountain Rd. Charles died in CA. |

Sevine was born Dec,1891, AR. She married
John T. Sanders, son of John M. and Louisa J.
Sanders, 1910, AR. They resided with John
T.'s family in Pope Co., AR 1910.
Donia J. was born Sept..,1892, AR. She married
Daniel H. Hutson. She had at least two children,
Georgia and Doyle. Donia died in 1916.
Jessie was born abt. 1894, AR. I was told she
died before her first birthday.
Lonia M. was born Dec, 1897, AR. She married
Orie Mayhew

and Jerry Don were born to them. They farmed and kept close relations with her younger brother, Jeff |

Evie Ethyl was born May 8, 1903, AR. She was
burned by scalding laundry water and died of
complications from the accident. She is buried
in Pope Co., AR, Phoenix Cemetery, by her
father, Wiliam.

MY GRANDDAD Jeff Elmer was born July 14, 1905 in Denmark, Jackson Co., AR Since his father was killed in 1908, he quit school after 3rd grade to help his family. |

At 14 he moved to Holdenville, OK finding work in the cotton fields. By age 25 he was sharecropping near Eufala, OK. 1934, James Tettleton hired him as a farm hand Jeff married James' daughter. |

Jeff and Jim-A-Lu were married in Edmond, OK, Feb. 24, 1939. Their residence became Deer Creek, OK where he began working in the oil fields. His final employment would be as an electrician in which he was self-taught and self-employed. |

...and Donna. In the 1970's, Jeff and Jim-a-Lu moved to Edmond, OK where they lived out their lives. Jeff died July 10, 1993, just before his 88th birthday. |
Ollie Tompkins was born August 17, 1908.
six months after her father died. She
married Hobart Henley and I'm told she
resided in CA. in later years. They had
children, Elivira, Mary, Retha, Neal, Jean
and Johnny. Hobart died October 16, 1969
and Ollie passed away December 20, 1997.
Mary REED Tompkins remarried after William's death, to
a Mr. Ozyment and had another daughter, Alice.
