My earliest information on this family begins with
William Caswell Thomas, born 1825 in AL. He married
Sarah Jane Brock.
Their son, Solomon Vanburen Thomas was born Aug. 8, 1848
in Fayette Co., AL. He married Elizabeth ALEXANDER
Jan. 1, 1868 in Corinth, MS. They had twelve children,
James Wallace(My GGGrandfather), Eliza Alexander, William
Pryar, Wilburn Hines, Madison Manoah, Ola and Ora, Mary
Alice, Sarah Ina, Solomon Byram, John Alford and Annie
Laura. Solomon and Sarah were residing in McPherson,
Stephens Co., OK by 1910. They struck the first oil well
in that county and have their picture in the Stephens Co.,
Museum. Solomon died Dec. 15, 1933 in Duncan, OK.

The second daughter of James and Emma, Clara Elizabeth,
was born Dec, 15, 1895 in Collins Co, Tx. She married
Archie Medlin ROGERS, July 8 1917.

Middle daughter of James and Emma, Mary Alice, was born
Sept. 18, 1898 in Collins Co., TX. She marrried Carl M.
Johnson Nov. 26, 1916. They had children J. Milton,
Victor M., Marian and Raymond K.. Mary died March 3, 1979
in Duncan, OK.

Annie Eliza was born April 30, 1899 in Wylie, TX. She was James and Emma's fourth daughter and my GGrandmother. |

She married James Quinton TETTLETON Dec. 16, 1917 in Duncan, OK. They had six children. They were Joyce M., Jim-A-Lu(MY Grandmother), twins Thelma Frances and Velma Ruth, sons James Paul and Ray Leslie. The twins died just before their first birthday of intestinal problems. |

Annie died Oct. 12, 1970 in Edmond, OK of cancer. |
James and Emma's fifth daughter was Emma Faye. She was
born Oct. 22, 1907 in Stephens Co., OK. Her Grandparents,
Solomon and Elizabeth Thomas, took her to raise after
her mother's death. She married Alvin Beauchamp and had a
son, Jerry. Emma Faye died of emphyzima, Feb. 16, 1978
in Okla. Co., OK.
