Notes for James Henry SMITH
Jim and George Smith formed a mill and gin plant near Crosstimber Creek in Dike, Hopkins Co., TX. A large dam was constructed to cross a ravine which drained into Cross Timber Creek. This pool was used to impound water for mill and gin purposes. They ginned bales of cotton raised by their neighbors and went to grinding wheat and corn. The barrels and bags they sold were branded "Booneville, TX".
