About WWE
WWE originally called WWF(World Wrestling Federation),actually, it was called WWWF (World Wide Wrestling Federation) in 1960s.WWWF was established by Vincen McMahon Sr. In 1982, His son, Vincen McMahon, who is an American marvelous career athlete bought this name and revised it into WWF. However, In 1999 October, Vincen McMahon lost a suit in contraction with another WWF(World Wildlife Federation).As a result, he gave up the grand old being used for more than 20 years and revised it into WWE. He bought up the other two wrestling organization, WCW(World Champion Wrestling) and ECW(Extreme Champion Wrestling)and merged as today's WWE.
The style of WWWF was really different from WWF and changed a lot in 40 years. Before the 1980s, WWF was a kind of solemn competition, same as boxing. The most famous event was Hogan defeated Iron Shiek in the Olympic Games in 1980s. Hogan has spent a long time to keep his champion position. WWF was gradually becoming one of the most popular sports event in America, mainly because of Hogan.
In 1982, after Vincent McMahon bought WWF from his father, WWF had changed a lot. Nowadays, WWF is a kind of entertaining event and there are lots of characters. For example, The Rock, Stone Cold are roles of heroes while HHH, Kurt Angle are roles of villains. Yet these characters are not fixed, sometimes heroes and villains are interchanging each other. The reason of WWF becoming famous is because of the more exciting "plot" than soap opera and the consecutive events. Now the events are being broadcast on TV all around the world and there are nearly 500 millions of audience every week.
WWF went to a peak state form 1985 to 1995.At that time, everyone knew Hulk Hogan, who was discover by Vincen McMahon, Randy Savage, Mr. Perfect, Bret Hart etc. The audience rating and the box office are much more higher than the WCW and ECW. For the sake of saving the bad situation, WCW recruited Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage etc with high salary. However, this recruitment made WWF facing the unprecedented crisis (at first, WCW recruited the script writer and announcer from WWF).Yet, it created a chance for Vincen McMahon to portrayed the new blood. As a result, The Rock, Triple H, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker have the chance to exert their calibre and become famous today. What made wrestling fans remember the most was the event that the boxing champion, Mike Tyson fought against with Stone Cold Steve Austin on the Ring!
Vincen McMahon has ducted into many new types of matches. One of the matches can use lethal weapon .For example, the Hardcore Match, the Steel Cage Match and Women Wrestling etc. But this type of match again affects ECW and WCW. When WCW heard WWF was popular, they start practicing the mode of WWF. They organized the Pretty Wrestling with Group event or the quarrels between contestant and their boss.WCW and ECW was gradually on the decline because of the high salary given to the wrestling contestant, the internal financial problem and the end of TV broadcasting.
Before the combination of WWE, Vincen McMahon and the script writer skillfully made use of the scene "the organization resist each other", portrayed the plot of all rights from WCW and ECW being occupied by Vincen McMahon's children, Shane & Stephanie McMahon, and then led all the contestants to seize all the rights from WWF. At that time, different parties of contestants always fought with contestants from WWF. This let Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H etc cooperate with the bygone contestant having grudge. They led other contestants to resist the invasion of WCW and ECW and organized a competition called "Invasion". In that competition, many wrestling fans' dreams came true. They could see the champions from different parties battled each other and this competition was the most important in the history of American career wrestling.
After the combination and the revision of WWF's name, Vince McMahon decided to bestow on the new stat of WWE. He gave up the policy of Commissioner and introduce the policy of General Manager to divide all the contestants into two parties: Raw (original WCW CEO Eric Bischoff was the GM) and SmackDown!(In short form, "SD!" The GM was Vincen McMahon's daughter, Stephanie McMahon. Later on, there were many modification and Theodore Long was today's GM)
There are several TV programs in WWE, such as Raw is War、Smackdown!、Velocity、Sunday Night Heat and House Show, in which House Show is not broadcast in TV. Apart from the TV programs, WWE constantly organized special competition every month and it is called PPV (PAY-PER-VIEW). PAY-PER-VIEW means the TV station needs to buy the rights of broadcasting and each PPV has different prices. The most popular PPV is the "WrestleMania" in March. The broadcasting right in each time is extremely high!
