Rendezvous Sur La Nile

By Robert James DeBurgh (Poet)

Black is the Night o'er the stretching
Nile Waters,
And a Solitary Moon floats on high, up above.
Fatima comes to the banks with her daughters
And my Heart heaves a sigh for the
Sight of my Love.

SHE COMES! OH! SHE COMES!

Now my Brain grows much Fainter.
How I wish I has easel and paints,
Like a painter;
To Capture this vision!
This vision of Joy!
Oh boy, Oh boy, Oh boy, Oh boy!

SHE comes 'midst the jingling of bells
On the goats,
SHE comes with the Grace of a lake full of Boats,
SHE SINGS! How that voice can produce such
Sweet notes!
SHE in her sandals o'er the NILE bank floats
As her Song the verse of Firdousi quotes.
Then she and I join like a pair of Zygotes!

Cairo 1889

NOTES ON PROVENANCE:
The Work was sent to The Society anonymously by Mr Sandor Molnar of Budapest, (not related Ferenc Molnar, (he was quite adamant about that...)) after he had discovered it tucked under the blotter pad on his Uncle Bela's roll-top Desk where it lain for who knows how long?

Such generous and selfless Donations are what keep The Society going. If only there could be more like him....

Research is currently underway to determine the History of this Work...
