Heart Sunrise

By Robert James DeBurgh (Poet)

Towers rising! Faience jewelled in the morning Sun,
In the EAST!
Such a feast for the eyes,
Provoking sighs of Joy.
But be not coy, my mistress.
Had we but world enough and money
We'd live on honey and NAAN and cheese.
And take our ease, sailing the Seven Seas on ships,
Taking trips to every Foreign Part!
But Lo! It has come to me as Cupid's loving dart
That an anagram of Herat, love, is HEART!

Amor Omnia Vincit

Herat, Afghanistan, 1894

NOTES ON PROVENANCE;
This example of the Work of RJ de B had long been included in a French private collection, in an Anthology of Medieval poetry thought to be the work of a Provencal Troubadour. The date, however, gives it away.
B. Svertlovich discovered the error.
