Constantinople Nights

By Robert James DeBurgh (Poet)

Bosphorus water flowing by
Underneath the Evening sky
With early Stars a-twinkle in the eye
Boats coming and going on the water flowing,
And red Fezzes flying in the wind what's blowing
Down from the Sultan Ahmet on the Hill.

O! What a thrill to see the stars so still
After I am Dead and before I was Born,
They spin their Magick o'er the Golden Horn.

Constantinople 1888
