Flatwater Sprinting

In international competitions, two classes of crafts are used. They are the Canoes and
Kayaks.
In canoeing competitions in Singapore, the Kayak Class and the Tourer Class are used.
There are no Canoe Class events.

Canoes
 | paddled from a kneeling position with a single blade by either one or two male athletes |
 | known as C1 or C2 |
 | sprinting over a distance of 500m, 1000m |


Kayaks
 | paddled from a sitting position by one, two or four competitors of both sexes |
 | known as K1, K2, K4 |
 | sprinting over a distance of 500m, 1000m |


Tourers
 | paddled from a sitting position by one or two competitors of both sexes |
 | more stable, but slower than the international sprint kayaks |
 | known as T1, T2 |
 | sprinting over a distance of 500m, 1000m
