of adjectives:
1. Short adjectives: big, tall, small, thin, short, ……………
_ Comparison: Adj. + er >>> than.
e.g. Ahmed is taller
than Ali.
_ Superlatives: the + Adj. + est.
e.g. Shadi is the
tallest student in the class.
2. Long
adjectives: expensive, dangerous,
beautiful, exciting, ……….
_ Comparison: more + Adj. + than.
e.g. Copper is more
expensive than Iron.
_ Superlatives: the + most + Adj.
e.g. Gold is the
most expensive metal on the Earth.
·Types of Comparison:
.positive comparison: using positive
adjectives/ more.
e.g.1. Football is
faster than rugby.
2. Football is
more exciting than rugby.
.negative comparison: using negative adjectives / less.
e.g.1. Rugby is
slower than Football.
2. Rugby is
less exciting than Football.
3. equal
comparison: as……as, similar to, like, similar, the same.
e.g.1. Football is as
good as / similar to / like rugby.
2. Football and
rugby are similar / the same.
4. unequal comparison
: not as…… as, different from, not like, not similar, not the same.
e.g1. Football is not
as good as/ different from/ not like rugby.
