| Nursing Home Rambles--- There are things I see or hear at the nursing home that I think are so sweet, funny, or sad. This page is going to be a log of those things. I bet it's going to be updated all the time, because...... I love the nursing home!!! I really really do. The Notebook Moment-- I saw this lady who walked away from a room with a lot of other residents who were listening to this minister play gospel songs on the piano. She sat down on a bench and put her hand to her head..it looked like she had a headache. So I sat down next to her and asked if she was okay. She said she was fine (she had been crying a little bit). She said she has a husband that is not going to be with her much longer and the music just made her think of that. She said it wasn't a good idea to go was it? and she repeated that she's fine to convince me that everything is okay while also saying again that her husband wouldn't be here. she was really strong about it.. like somebody who is sad alone, but once somebody confronts them.. they pick themselves up and wipe away the tears despite the hurt. Seeing this broke my heart. She started walking and she said that she was going to visit him. She was walking and walking... and then she walked to the Alzheimer's unit. Poor woman...her husband has alzheimer's =(. I felt like this was a real Notebook moment. There are only 3 men that live in the Alzheimer's unit. I know all 3 of them and I'm really curious to know which man is her husband. really really curious!! so curious i thought about walking up down the 60 something apartment rooms to find the last name that matches with any of the 3 men from the alzheimer's unit, because I don't kno that lady's name..but i realized how sad (wrong/ somewhat stalkerish in away) that would be so i didn't do it =(. The Ghost Child-- Last summer I met Shmegith Blates (not her real name, but it rhymes!) The one time I talked to her... she said that she needed to go home, that her husband was waiting for her, and that they were having guests soon. None of this was true though. She said that she had children and then she would say that she didn't have children. There is this padded thing that they hook across the arms of her wheelchair so she can't get out of her chair. She pushed on it and tried to get it off and said "How do I get out of here?" Then she was looking towards this piano and she said "Go hoomme" and "Hey you, how do I get out of here?" But no one was there. so I asked "Shmegith, who are you talking to??" and she said the boy over there and pointed, but there was no boy. The area she was referring to was just plain space and a piano. So I asked her "How old is he?" and she said "about your age" :O Yikes... Is this a real ghost boy?? Or just a hallucination?? Do you even believe in ghosts??? I do. I dooo. |
