VAYEIRAH- AVRAHAM'S TENT
SONG: TTTO: Tzipur tzipur thru my chalon Four doors had Avraham's tent In and out the people went Food and drinks he gave to them Here comes another guest! (Use this as a felt board story. Create a tent (out of clear paper if you can get hold of it) Cut out four doors and sing the song, each time putting another guest inside the tent.
PARSHA IN A NUTSHELL: Avraham, in all his kindness creates his home/tent with foor doors. In this way any guest coming in any direction is welcome and able to come right in. Once inside Avraham offered them food and drink. At the end of the meal the guests asked if they can pay, to which Avraham replied...."Don't pay me, pay the one that makes all the food, G-d/Hashem" Avraham then taught them how to bless hashem, bentch, grace after meals. If they refused to do it, Avraham said "Fine, then pay me" and said an astronomical amount, making them just say okay to thanking Hashem. In this way Avraham spread the name of G-d all over!
WELCOME MAT: Since Avraham had such kindness to all his guest, now is a good time to talk about inviting people in your own home and how to take care of them. Create a welcome mat for the home. Ideas how: -Feet printing. Fun yet messy. -write the words welcome and have the children glue some type of design on the letters, a great skill for younger children. (papers, tissue paper, felt...) -
TENT: There are many ways to make a tent, and the most important thing to keep in mind when chosing is the one that is appropiate for your age. -SIMPLE: take a paper plate cut a slit in the middle half way across. pull the sides together creating the tent shape. staple. cut four doors out (little triangles). staple the whole tent onto a paper plate, turned upside down. Paint it. create an Avraham to stand in front.Create a welcome sign for ontop of the tent. -We made tents out of french-fry containers & painted them green (color of the week) (In each door we put another Malach/angel & we put Avrohom in the front)
Dramatic play Perfect time to create a tent in your classroom for the children to play with. It is quite simple. Take a blanket drape it over a table and pin it up on four sides.
Sew a tent using large needles and yarn, hang it from the ceiling and leave it in your housekeeping corner for the week. .
- talk about importance of inviting and treating guests well, bake something and invite mommies or another class to join you for snack. - for yitzchaks birth ask moms to send in kids' baby pictures, play guessing games... . |
SONG: to the tune of "its a small world..." Bruchim habaim avrohom said "eat and drink and rest in bed" Hachnosas orchim he did do with 4 open doors its true.. (then ) Hachnosas orchim he did do.. (3 times) with 4 open doors its true.. .
CLASS TENT: figured out a real easy way. Some of you have a string tied across your classroom, if you dont tie one. Drape a piece of material over the string. some chairs in a circle so it stays in place. Bring food in, and have a great time!
