| IN THIS WEEK'S TORAH PORTION, HASHEM PROMISES AVRAHAM, THAT HE WILL HAVE AS MANY CHILDREN AS THE STARS IN THE SKY AND THE SAND BY THE SEA! BASICALLY, MANY MANY, MORE THANKWE CAN COUNT! THAT IS US, THE JEWISH PEOPLE TODAY! |
| PLACE SAND IN YOUR WATER TABE AND SPEND THE WEEK TELLING AND SHOWING THE CHILDREN HOW IMPOSSIBLE IT IS TO COUNT IT! |
| TAKE A PLATE OR A PAPER AND HALF IT. THE TOP THE CHILDREN DECORATE WITH STAR STICKERS, THE BOTTOM WITH SAND COLLECTED FROM OUTSIDE! IN THE MIDDLE WRITE THE MEANING OF THE PROJECT.....(IT IS ALWAYS A GOOD THING TO DO SO THAT THE PARENTS UNDERSTAND THE CONNECTION RIGHT AWAY. 'HASHEM PROMISED TO AVRAHAM, THAT HE WILL HAVE SO MANY CHILDREN, LIKE THE SAND BY THE SEA, AND LIKE THE STARS IN THE SKY, YES SIREE!' (THIS IS ACTUALLY A SONG!) |

| Since Avraham had to pick up and go, it is a great time to do the whole idea of transportation. Give each child a bag, let them pack up toys from the classroom and GO! March around the school..... |
| Trace the childrens' feet, and create many 'lech lecha footsteps'. You can turn this into a music and movement activity by placing them in some sort of pattern and making the children follow them.. |
| To create a stuitcase, either take a minalla folder or a piece of oaktag. pipe cleaner for the top is the handle. One way to fill things in it is to get pictures which the children color and paste Another suitcase i have seen is to take a box and paint it cutting one long side out. (cracker boxes...). |

| The children chose a mode of transportation from Morah's big mystery box- & each child acted like their part- we went all around the school- beeping, chooing, honking, zomming- & zamming awa. Even though it's a bit on a tangent- We took a feild trip to visit a car- & check out Morah's jalopedy broken 87 car. We found the seat-belts & discussed saftey & car-seats on the Go. The kids got (Free) buckle up stickers. how they can go without h2o for a long time. |
| A-C Each child got a big foam car- on one said it said- "Away we go!" How we go today- then the children collaged pictures (cut-outs from magazines) of the way we go today- on the flip side it said, "How Avrhom went back then." there was a picture of Avrhom on a camel & we glued brown cotton on to Mr. Avrhom's camel- & we glued sand on to our desert. the kids made their own sand (yellow o'course-color of the week) with chalk and salt.! |
| We really discussed esert life- we turned up the heat- put on sungalsses- & sat on mats with sand(the sand[the kids made the sand] was in ziploc bags-spare me the mess) & we had a great time- we talked about Gamals- & how they can go without h2o for a long time. |
| THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO ADD COUNTING TO YOUR CIRCLE TIME AND PLAY TIME. CREATE A FELT BOARD STORY AND COUNT THE STARS..... |
| Another good game to enforce the idea jews as many as the stars is to hide glow in the dark stars in a dark room and have the kids find and count them alot of fun+ song |
